Level 2 Award in Food Safety
The Level 2 Food Safety in Catering Course has a duration of 6hrs which can also be delivered on your
site for groups of 6+ delegates or as 2x3hr sessions.The food hygiene level 2 course is ideal for anyone
who is handling, preparing or cooking food that is served to the public and also those that are advising and
helping the public to make food related purchases and to prepare food for example in supported living or
domicilliary care.
The course can be tailored to your sector eg Food safety (hygiene) for health and social care, food safety
for small restaurants,cafes or outside catering, food hygiene for school or community settings or childcare.
There are completely seperate qualifications for Food Safety for Retail or Food Safety for Manufacturing
We can advise during the course on setting up your haccp based food safety system (eg Safer food better
business)-and we will be happy to answer any food related questions or directly address any site specific
issues as part of the course
How long is the Course?-6hr course (can be delivered over 1 to 2 days to meet your requirements)
How Much Does it Cost?- £50 (ex vat)
Where is it held?- At our training Centre in Consett or on your premises for groups of 6+
Is it for me?- Food safety law advises that all food handlers in any sector have sufficient training to
produce or provide safe food-If you are a Food Handler in manufacturing, catering or retail you are
required by law to undertake some food safety training, If you run a small business,
this course will help
you to understand and meet your duties under the Food Standards Agency "Safer Food Better Business"
Initiative
What wilI I learn?- This course covers the importance of the 4 'C's Cooking, Cleaning, Chilling and Cross
Contamination, along with the records you need to keep.
Is there a test?- Yes! - there is 20 question multiple choice test- but don't worry you'll have plenty of
support and opportunity to practice and prepare!
Will I get a Certificate?- Yes, success in the exam results in a certificate, which is Nationally recognised
(RQF) and is valid for 3 years.
We are also now able to offer Level 1 Awareness training for staff prior to commencing employment
(3hrs course) to meet the requirements of the new legislation- and Level 3 for Manager s and Supervisors
